June Birthdays & Father's Day

June is a relatively slow month for Birthdays with my Father-in-law's on the 9th & my nephew Jonathan's on the 13th.

This is the card that I made for Jon. He loves his Legos.

I used a swap card that I had for my Father-in-law's birthday (gasp!). I have to use them up somehow.  This is the card that I made for my Father-in-law for Father's Day though. I used the May Paper Pumpkin.

Here is the card that I made for my Dad for Father's Day…

Here is the card for my hubby….

I also made this cute box that I used for his Starbucks gift card. I found the design on & adapted it slightly.

Other cards in June

Here is a card that I made for a challenge in June.  It uses Whisper White, Strawberry Slush, & Pistachio Pudding card stock.  I used Work of Art stamp set for the chevron background & For the Birds stamp set to make a cute birthday card to have around.

This is a card that I made when I was up late stamping one night.  It is inspired by a card on nicoleheady.typepad.com.  I thought that I would use it for my June Secret Happy Mail Swap but then changed my mind.  It use the Perfect Pennants stamp set with Marina Mist & Pear Pizzaz ink.  I think that it will work well for a masculine birthday.

This is a set of cards I made while at a card class.  They all use the new In Colors of which my new favourites are Blackberry Bliss & Lost Lagoon.

June is anniversary month for both my sister & her husband & my brother & his wife.  This is the card that I made for them (or a version thereof).

This is another card that I made for a Stamp It Three Ways Challenge.  I used the Dictionary Stamp for the background & Regarding Dahlias for the focal point & sentiment. I coloured the flower using the Daffodil Delight Blendabilities…

June Swaps

These are some cards that I made for some swaps that I took part in in June.

This is a swap that I made for  Creative Day Get-A-Way that I attended on June 7th.  I had to make 24 of these cards & they had to use all Stampin Up elements though they could be retired.  It was a good chance to use up some old DSP from Salebration this spring.  Otherwise everything else on the card is current. I used the Another Thank-you, Regarding Dahlias & Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiments & PL Point & Click stamp set for the arrows & the PL Cards & Labels Framelits.

This is a swap that I made for a Coffee Talk that I attended at my friend Karina's. I used some old DSP, the Scalloped Tag Topper punch & Mini Clothes Pins.

This card is for my June Secret Happy Mail Swap. When I saw a card similar to this on lhiggins.blogspot.com.au, I knew I had to try it. My theme focused on circles & I think that it is called a concertina card.  The card base is Pool Party card stock, the DSP is from Sale-a-bration this year & the Whisper White card stock on the front is run through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots embossing folder.  The stamp sets are Starburst Sayings & Remembering Your Birthday.  The inside sentiment is stamped with Versamark & then embossed with black embossing powder.

The last is a special Secret Happy Mail card. It is my Happy Mail Friend's Birthday this month so I decided to make an over the top Birthday card for her & also made a box with chocolates. It uses the Dictionary, Tape It & Blooming With Kindness stamp sets. The colours are Marina Mist, Pear Pizzaz & Early Expresso. It is based on a card from memystampsandi.blogspot.com.  On top of the box I also made roses with the Spiral Flower Originals & then put it all together in this cute Paper Pumpkin bag that I decorated in coordinating colours.

First roses

The other evening Duane & I were out for a walk.  We came across the first Wild roses of the year so I had to stop to smell them & I took this picture.  We later saw some that were more vibrantly coloured & Duane thought I should take a picture of them instead.  But they weren't the first ones I saw…

Some Non-Birthday May Cards

Here are a few others cards that I have made in May.  The first one was made for a challenge where I was given certain elements that had to be used to create the card but then the layout & design was up to me.  This is what I came up with…

I used the On Film Framelits to cut out the negative shape & the arrow. I used Retro Fresh Washi Tape to attach it to my card, the Peachy Keen Stamp set for the main sentiment and the camera stamp & Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp set with Versa mark for the tone on tone stamp on the arrow.

This is a card that I made for May's Secret Happy Mail Swap.  I stamped the background image with Stazon ink & then sponged it with Wild Wasabi & Marina Mist ink to colour the map. I stamped the Postage Due stamp images with Basic Black ink & then used the Postage Stamp punch to cut them out. It is based on a card from jkcardsonline.com.

Stamped napkins & Maverick pillow

These are some napkins that I have stamped for a friend's birthday.  I just used Stazon ink on cloth napkins.

This is the pillow that I also made for her. I used MDS to print on iron on paper & then just applied it to a pillow cover that I sewed.  I am so happy with the way it turned out. I used a 14x14 pillow but I think that it will look a bit better with a slightly larger one.

May birthdays

Here are the cards that I made for the all the May birthdays.

First up is my good friend Tammy from Moms Group (I have known her for 16 years now).  In case you can't read the card it says "who's turning forty?" I forgot to take a picture of the photo frame that I made for her using MDS.  Tammy is a fabulous cook so I framed some quotes from Julia Child that are fitting.  Tammy is the youngest of the our group & she celebrated her 40 & Fabulous birthday in style.  Here is a photo of our group of friends that were able to attend the party.  There were photo props, a live band (that was fantastic) & lots of great food.  Tammy is from Newfoundland & they know how to do up a party right!

Next is my nephew's birthday.  He turned 1 so it is kinda a big deal!

This is a kids' sized floor cushion that I made for him from fabric that I bought at Ikea. He can use it to sit on or as a small table plus there is a handle for moving it from place to place.

Then comes my niece, Sarah's birthday on May 16th.  She is turned 6 this year. I guess I forgot to take a picture of the cards that we sent to her on her birthday.

My good friend Laurie Ann also celebrates a May birthday. She is my coffee loving friend so I thought that this card would be perfect for her.  I made her a pillow & napkins for her gift that are in a separate post.

The end of the month is my brother Dave's birthday.  This is the card that I made for him with a photography theme. It is also one that I did for a challenge making use of necessary elements.
