And here is that picture of Lorrene's Birthday card that I held back

Thank-yous & Birthday

Here is a Thank-you card for our wonderful neighbours who dog sat for us while we were on holidays this summer.

This is the card that I made for Dad's Birthday.  I'll post Lorrene's a little later once I know she has got it.  I mailed it late, sorry sis!

Lots of cards this week

I was busy making lots of cards a couple of weeks ago, just before we went on holidays to Ottawa.  I didn't have time to post them before we left so here they are now - a card for my great-aunt on the Stoby side who just celebrate her 90th birthday

a 50th Anniversary card for very good family friends, the Standevens, who had an open house last weekend

a card with a used stamp set that I bought that will be good for Father's Day & masculine birthdays

Camping Gifts

This is a card & gift that I made for friends that we camped with July long weekend & that have newly acquired a trailer.  The card is made using the stamp set Under the Stars & wishes them many skeeter free camping days!  The egg carton is filled with dryer lint & then cups are filled with paraffin wax.  This is the fire starter that we use when we are camping & it works every time no matter the conditions.

Anniversary cards

I have been busy making anniversary cards, trying to get ahead so that I have them ready to send when the occasion comes up.  I have made 4 cards for the 4 anniversaries in our family (Mom & Dad, Lorrene & Rob, Dave & Jen & Deanna & Mike) and just need to make a few extra for friends.  This is the card that I made for our good friends, the Grattons anniversary this week.  It uses the Perfectly Preserved DSP, Basic Gray & White card stock, Island Indigo, Lucky Limeade & Basic Grey ink & Island Indigo ribbon.  I also used the Labels & Canning Framelits to cut out the shapes.  The sentiment on the inside say to a the perfect pair.
The one below is for Mom & Dad. It also uses the Perfectly Preserved DSP but it is on  Naturals White  card stock & uses linen twine. Now I can post this because both cards have been given to the intended recipients.

August Birthday Cards

I cannot believe that it August already.  Here are some cards that I made for the Deb's Birthday (today) & Mike's Birthday next week.

For Deb I made a simple card using the Zoo Review stamp set & sponging with Soft Sky & Crushed Curry on Naturals White card stock.  The zebra is stamped in Basic Black & then cut out & layered on top to give it some dimension.  This one is inspired by a similar card that I saw on Pinterest.
For Mike's card I came up with the design using the Jumbo wheel Stars stamp & then placed star stickers over top for a pop of colour.  The card base is Old Olive card stock. The stamp set for the sentiment is Wacky Wishes & it says Happy Birthday on the inside.

A week of Fun

We said good by to the Minnesota cousins today as they make their way on a 22 hour drive home.  It was great to visit with them, go to the museum, ride horses & gather the whole family at Dave & Jen's.  This photo is the last one of many, as the cousins say a final goodbye in a parking lot at Windermere (just missing Brennan).

Thursday, 18 July 2013

Duane celebrated his 49th Birthday on Tuesday.  We had Mom & Dad, Dave, Jen & Brennan in for a BBQ (shrimp & scallops, greek roasted potatoes, corn on the cob & green salad) which turned out well.  After supper our friends the Grattons joined us for cake.  This is a photo of Duane in the gift that he received from the Grattons (a bubble wrap Tour de France jersey).  Natalie & Kiera made it that afternoon after it was noted that Duane has been falling off his bike frequently.  He thinks it is the bike because he never fell off his old one!

This is the card that I made for his Birthday (the sentiment says Happy Birthday inside but I forgot to take a picture before I wrote in it).  The only thing that he said he really needed was TIME & while I couldn't give him that I made sure the card reflected it. I used Well Worn DSP, River Rock & Night of Navy card stock, Dapper Dad & Wacky Wishes stamp sets and some linen ribbon.

Another sweet treat card

This is a card I made for my nephew Wyatt's birthday last week. I used the celebration DSP and a sweet treat cup that I filled with a Lego man that I built at the new Lego store in Southgate. I was surprised how much he loved his little man & used him to play with his other toys.

Anniversary card

This week we celebrated our 19th anniversary and I am not sure where the time has gone.  We went out for supper at an Italian restaurant, Vivo.  This is the card that I made for Duane.

Soccer coaches' cards

Today my project was to make 3 cards for Natalie's soccer coaches.  While it has not been a overly successful year for Natalie's team the coaches have been fantastic.  They are 3 university students who all played soccer themselves.  They have always been very positive with the girls & have helped them to improve a lot. Natalie has enjoyed her year & that is thanks to her coaches so we are thankful they stepped up to be a coach.

July Secret Happy Mail swaps

Here are some cards that I made for my Secret Happy Mail Swap. I ended up sending the first one & will keep the other for me to use.  I played around with glitter on the red glasses but I couldn't get it to work so I abandoned that plan for now.

Last week's cards

Ok so this post is not quite so out of date. These are the cards that I worked on last week...
These are some cards that I made at my friend Karina's card class.  I can't take credit for the design because that was all her but they are great little note cards with various sentiments.
These are the cards I made from this month's Paper Pumpkin kit.  I made 2 of each design so 2 will be for birthdays & the other 2 will be just to say hi.  I probably should send out cards for no particular reason more often because I am starting to get a build up of these or I will just have to stop making them.  Nah!  I think that it is better to just send some happy mail!

Father's Day card for Duane

I posted photos of the Father's Day cards that I made for my Father-in-law & for my Dad but here is the one that I made for Duane...
