I made these cards to thank our ringette coaches this past season. I used the Hardwood stamp (which I love) & then embossed the sentiment & stars using gold. I think that the gold just takes it up a notch.

Sweet 16
Dana turned 16 yesterday. I really do not know where that time has gone. She has completed her driver's training classroom sessions & will begin her in car lessons this weekend. I remember when I turned 16 getting my licence was a very big deal & I am sure that it will be for her too - the sense of freedom but also the responsibility. We did not buy her a car of her birthday & do not have plans to but we did get her an iPhone & a Pandora charm bracelet (Natalie says that we were VERY generous). She went to lunch with her girlfriends yesterday & Nat made her chicken tacos for supper while we were out getting her nails done. Afterward we went to MarbleSlab for ice cream & tonight we will go out for supper now that Duane is home from his work travels. Yeah Nat is right, we have been very generous, but I guess I think that 16 is still a big deal!
Sweet 16…sweet cream & raspberry ice cream

My creation. She still loves pink after all this time!

Stained glass cards
These cards all use stained glass technique but each one is unique. I made these cards at a class run by a lady in our neighbourhood.
For this card I stamped the image & coloured with markers. Then stamped Versamark over the entire area & added clear embossing powder. Heated this & repeated 10 times before placing it in the freezer to harden. After taking it out of the freezer, I simply cracked the embossed layers to give a cracked glass finish. Very cool!
For this card, the butterfly was stamped on velum with Stazon ink & then coloured in with markers.
For this card the image was stamped on acetate with Stazon ink & then the back side of the acetate was coloured with markers.
March getaway
Duane & I were able to make a quick getaway to San Francisco & the Napa Valley a few weeks back. We had a great time eating, wine tasting & laughing with the friends we travelled with.
This is a photo of the Bay Bridge from the Market. We stopped here for lunch & coffee at the the Blue Bottle Cafe. We later took this bridge on our way to the Napa area.
This is the Beazley House B&B where we stayed in Napa.
This was one of the decorations on their front porch. I love this little tricycle!
This was our room. It is called the sunroom & for good reason. The sun had us up early most morning but there is something to be said about waking up to natural light rather than an alarm.
This is the view out the patio of our room. We didn't spend much time out there but it was lovely!
This is what we spent most of out time doing. We went to 4 tastings Saturday & 2 on Sunday. This is some of the samplings at the Beringer winery tour.
This was a small lizard that was hanging out on the rocks near the patio where we were sampling.
This is one of the locations for our wine tasting. It was so lovely to sit out in the sun & sample wines right in the vineyard where the grapes are grown. A great experience!
